But the new one seems either excessively so or it was not re-washed? So, variant or error?

error …. even if it was a variant, it is not enough to produce any lasting value ….
The ones I have are grungy.

I am gonna say error as the paint jobs on cars like this (AKA Pizza Planet Todd) tend to be special each in their own way…
I think this whole cars toy line is a variant though… No other one like it that’s for sure!!!
Has anyone else noticed that the trailer shown on the front of the Wally Hauler package does not match the trailer inside the package?
The trailer should be a flat floor version like Gil’s! With some minor modifications (such as cutting off the reefer unit on the front, if desired) Gil’s trailer could be easily converted to match the picture.
The biggest challenge would be lengthening the wheelbase of the Walmart tractor so that the trailer will fit. You might be able to find a cheap or broken tractor to cannibalize.
Since the trailer logo’s and cab markings are also different (old style) this would make a completely different Walmart truck.
Sorry, my old modelers streak is showing again, I will have to beat it back down since I am collecting now.
My Gil is pretty durty. he looks like wen thru a tight slolom course of rubber tires, then forgot to wipe his back doors. He actually has little pieces of paper towel stuck to hi back doors. hehe doubt that’s a variant…just sloppy.
