Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Rescue Squad Mater Playsets CARS – a Closeup Look
“PitStopToyShop” was kind enough to send us pics of the box to the Rescue Squad Mater Playset yesterday. Now, the pics of the CARS included.
Yes, as with all playset CARS now, all plastic – cost & safety reasons.
The set includes a plastic Rescue Squad Mater – acceptable but clearly not metal diecast … I think you can pretty much guess which is which …
Though of course, this way your metal diecast won’t get banged, dinged and missing as many parts …
But the “different” ambulance is a nice touch …
The plastic playset one is on the right – as you can see, less detailing and even slightly narrower and shorter but ONE huge key difference? Viva la difference?
Opening and closing doors …
But the crucial question – can Burnt Lightning McQueen fit into it for a trip to the ward?
Oh yeah.
Sad but he gets a ride.

I found this set in my local WalMart. I was shocked when I picked it up. It was so light, it felt like someone had stolen all of the parts from inside. Since I have both of these vehicles in their earlier form I can stay just that much further from bankruptcy by passing on this set.

Tell me why the die-cast version of the ambulance couldn’t have had opening doors?
Very nice Cars but I don’t need to spend that much for a plasic version of a car I already have simply for opening doors… yet.

My two boys have had a very CARSistmas. Sarges Boot Camp, and lots of Mega Size Cartoons. Plus it was my son Jakes 7th birthday yesterday (Christmas Eve) and he got the Cars Carrera and Cars Wii game.
