Disney Pixar CARS: Disney Store Courthouse RC
The Disney Store (only) Courthouse is a fun little RC Car & Building setup but a little spendy at $29.50 for just a display – however, with the recent* Disney store Buy One, Get One, I could not resist and it’s actually nicer than I thought.
It’s a huge box BTW.
Here is the basic setup – there are three garage doors that open, the left reads TRAFFIC COURT, the right reads SHERIFF.
As you can see, it works pretty nicely as a front facade for the 1:55 Mattel boys – yea, a little small but since it’s unlikely we are going to see a Courthouse playset unless there’s a courthouse setting in CARS 2, this might have to do.
Okay, yea, the ramp is a non-canonical …
But it’s actually a sophisticated little bit of a kit …
When you drive the RC car and it taps the middle bar (with the red mark), the front garage door closes and it actually LIFTS the entire car to the second story where …
… Where TADA! You can drive off the back ramp (detachable). As you can see, some really nice detailing as the springs latch to push back down to reset have a nubbin-handle that resembles an encased light bulb – nice!
Side view of the ramp so good fun for RCing … though the ramp doesn’t fit the canonocity of CARS.
And it’s not really wide enough to drive most 1:55 releases on it except for the Pitty’s, Fred, Chuki, Guido, Luigi … well, you get the idea …
Of course, the Mini’s fit nicely in there – and scaled for the Mini’s …
AND a nice bonus, you actually get a portion of the town as a mini mat. I actually placed the courthouse incorrectly – stupid instruction 🙂
You even get a MINI impound yard! You can kind of see it off to the left? (or see top photo).
The Radiator Springs McQueen is the RC car you get with this set.
And in yet another nice surprise, it’s a pretty decent RC. It even drives pretty nicely on carpet! Backwards, forward, right, left – it’s pretty responsive and fast.
So, all and all, a really good deal. If you want to buy for a kid as a RC set, even at full price, it’s a nice value since the RC is actually pretty decent, the playset has fun detailing and play value with a garage that goes up and down, garage doors closing and opening and a ramp to drive up & down … plus it comes with a mini mat of the streets of Radiator Springs … and it’s even to scale with the MINI’s!
If you’re only going to really use it as a display, the 50% off (if you buy 2) makes it an okay. The facade is a skoosh small but still nice and you have a mini mat to use for Radiator Springs. I used the ramp to park my Pitty’s as a MSOS ramp and I have an RC to drive around the office 🙂
The only thing to watch out for is the tape that holds down the mini street will lift off the artwork so where they taped the front of the artwork on the grid, just snip the tape – don’t lift it as you’ll lift off the artwork (of the street.grass, etc).
* The Disney Store BOGO Sale has no real end date. It kind of depends on how sales went. So in stores where some people cleared the shelves, the sale might be over but in other locations, it might run until this weekend so call ahead. And you don’t actually have to buy 2 – you actually a free 2nd toy as long as it’s priced equally or lower. So this set is $29.50, the BOGO sale entitles you to any other toy less than $29.50 free.
But the Courthouse is nice on a lot of levels – of course, the lower price of 2 for $29.50 makes it hard to resist and a great value. There is also a Ramone’s House of Body Art and a Mater Tow Yard playset.

i wonder how this would work with the TOMICA cars, being they are smaller than the mattel ones
Uggh I am beyond broke. But that is a sweet sweet set and would go awesome with minis.
They do have other mini rc sets too.
Picked it up with the stock yard a little while ago, and I can’t wait for our basement playroom to get done so we can tear into them!!!
are the proper minis officially over yet-or are there more to come?
There were new minis released recently but I have only seen on eBay.

Well, here’s one for the books.
I had to decide which store to check first this morning, Target or TRU, as they’re almost back to back.
Opted to check Target, where I did find another Motorama/Showgirls set, then over to TRU.
Well, what do I see on 2 pegs but Mack in the new “skyline” packaging!
So, I start digging through, searching for the 2 Kensingtons that should be there…..nothing, not even Barney or Sven. 🙁
I look up on the overhead shelf, the open shelf on top, and there’s the box!
Not able to reach it, since it’s toward the back, I get a TRU employee with ladder to take a look. EMPTY BOX.
Someone had been there when they opened, popped the box open and grabbed what they wanted, then chucked the box up on the shelf!
Well, at least I know Richard’s showing up now, just bugs me how close I was to getting him.

How does this courthouse match the other playsets (Flo´s cafe, Ramone´s shop, Luigi´s shop etc.) ? Similar size and looks ? Or is this more Mini-related?
More minish. I don’t think it would be too bad with them though.
Even if the sale were to end tomorrow you can still get them at the disney store outlet on line for half price. We bought them a few weeks ago for my son on there. Little disapointed that the 1:55 don’t fit down the ramp, i didn’t realize that….we limit our collecting to the 1:55 mattel is robbing us blind as it is without having to start picking up minis too for my 2yr old. I also refuse to buy one more lenticular car since the new eye change.How about putting out new cars instead of google eye repeats!
