Does anyone know if they are going to release this as singles??
Just a quick question. Are these pictures from mattel? or are they in hand? cos i’m seeing ebay pictures with the pitties all looking forward with the same eyelids. no variations in those at all, like the ones shown here.

I need help.
Can someone please convince me that the Story Teller line is not worth collecting. I have the 3 new 3 packs, but the prices…jeeez…i need some solid reasons why to keep up with this line. I collect the mainlines. I collect the Mater/Cars Toons…But I just can’t decide if the story tellers are worth it…the first few cases (year ago) were all re-packs of cars that were already out. They are so far removed from the movie that I feel sheepish buying into them.
What are everyone’s thoughts?
I love the Storytellers. The stories are a well executed expansion of the Cars Universe. It could have gone horribly wrong, but it didn’t. The stories are consistent with what we know about the characters and add depth and richness to them as well as introducing interesting new characters.
Hoodwinked is my boys’ favorite, although I think its because I read them the whole story with my Mater accent. I like the Flo and Ramone romance the most I think.
All that said, if you don’t enjoy the book, I wouldn’t bother with the Sotorytellers diecast.
Glad that there’s only 2 packs released.. gonna save for Christmas

I wouldn’t count on seeing these at Walmart. After all of those stores were “reset”, they have almost ZERO space for any additional CARS items.
I really think the clock is ticking for Walmart and their participation in selling any new CARS items.
The ONLY things I’ve found at any of our Walmart stores in recent history have been the CHASE Darrell Cartrip and the Wally Haulers.
Walmart, you’re starting to suck again.
Based on the way Lenticulars are moving, I’ll bet they stop carrying them altogether, just like how they stopped selling Movie Moments.
Maybe this is payback for Walmarts lack of support for CARS:
The 3 Walmarts nearest to us are stocked with ONLY Wally Haulers, and I mean 10 or 12, not just a couple! No other haulers on the shelves.
Walmarts are cutting back on all toys. Saw an article in Business Week. They were trying to take the market away from TRU, and it did not happen. Toys are not profitable, in essence to Walmart.

These are awesome… I’ll definitely buy the Daredevil Mater 4 pack, but since I have multiples of every Car in the Mater the Great 4 pack, I may have to pass on it… until next month.
I wish Mattel cared as much about the original line as they do the Tall Tale line which seems to get new cars and boxed sets every two weeks while we CANON collectors have to sit and suffer not knowing when Target will release another case. Not counting K-Mart day, I have officially bought 2 cars and 1 hauler in the past three months…..
Pirate Dad….. You wanted to know why people were giving up the chase? I’m pretty much done. I have literally no joy anymore in collecting it as it feels as though the main line has been abandoned. I’m very close to listing everything for sale. Keep an eye out in the trade board.
I feel you…tired of wasting gas to get to a store only to be greeted by the same overstocked set of 3 items on the pegs. I’ve been so bored and frustrated I’ve started helping out the stores by rearranging everything in order so they know what they have in hopes of them filling the blank pegs.
Yesterday I finally found a Target that had the new Storytellers 3-packs. They had two cases in the stockroom but refused to sell anything to me because of their “Target Anti-Collector Policy”. I’ve only been able to get one clerk to bring out a case before and now I know why.
Really? I mean c’mon… boo-hoo. We are talking about a movie that was released over 3 YEARS AGO! How much more new stuff do you really think is coming for the (gulp) canon collectors? Some boring brown mini van with a camera stuck to his door? A rusty old Donna Pitts (who the heck is that anyway)? Of course Mattel is focused on the Cars Toons line because they are new and popular. Be grateful we have seen (are seeing) 4-6 new haulers in the last 4 months.
Remember we are talking about kids here. How many of you who have kids that were into Cars in 2006 and those kids are still into Cars? My guess … 0-10% of you. The “new” audience members and collectors are the ones watching Cars for the first time on DVD like my son. Guess what? He has seen the movie a couple dozen times and LOVES his movie Cars, but would rather watch the Cars Toons shorts on YouTube now or have me read him one of the non-movie related Cars books. So what toys are hot for him? Some media press folks that Mattel is scrambling to put out that you probably don’t even recognize from the film or a fancy sparkly paint job version of a car he already has? Nope… Gimme a Rocket Mater, Dragon McQueen and Bubba please. 🙂 Now if they would just decide to stock and sell the da*n Story Tellers for a reasonable price…
Matt, there is plenty to look forward to that are canon to the movie. From the lists I’ve seen. Hang in there. We just got the great Sarge’s Boot Camp from the end of the movie. I am actually looking forward to the camera cars, it will be fun to recreate the scene from the beginning of the movie, where Not Chuck gets mad when McQueen tells him to get out of the way of the camera. Show us the bolt! Flashing, Flash bulbs…
