Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Mater the Greater NEXT Visual Checklist (UPDATE!)

So, this will is CHECKLIST WEEK here at TakeFive … Earlier, we did SINGLES, BOX SETS (part 1), BOX SETS (Part 2) – aka: The Target Box Sets & MATER TALL TALES ON PEGS (Singles & Megasize).

Everything on those checklists have been released so if you have everything checked off, you’re pretty much caught up – more stock is arriving if you’re not quite caught up as we approach the official start of the holiday season – November 1, 2009.

Holiday MTT Next Single Megasize

My feeling is that Box #2 is not happening. It was already an oddity with 2 Mater’s – now that BOTH are getting Megasize releases AND they have added the Pitty’s as a Megasize so my feeling is Box #2 has been canceled.

You might also wonder about Box #4 as Lug & Nutty have already gotten a singles release and BOTH Brian Souvenir Teeth and Rocket McQueen are also scheduled as Megasize … so we might only get Box #1 & Box #3 but … for now, it’s wait and see – but we shouldn’t have too long of a wait.

UPDATE! CASE B 4-Packs CONFIRMED!  Will contain 2 of the Mater the Greater Box Sets #1 and 2 of the Mater the Greater Box Sets #2.

Also note, many the Megasize releases are also shown as part of a 4-pack – but remember as with Rescue Squad Mater, will they be slightly different? Will they be different enough for you?

M Greater Box Sets1

So, we can be pretty certain on the Singles and Megasize release list … and we have a confirmation on Box Set #1 & Box Set #2 … #3 and #4 look pretty plausible also so I would presume we are set …

To be safe, Collect Them All 🙂

  • Wasn’t Props Mcgee included in that 4 pack with Mater the Aviator and Daredevil McQueen with Teeth? Also Doused McQueen was in the Rescue Squad Mater line as Soaked McQueen.

  • TarheelBill says:

All of the already released in these are peg warmers around here… while some of our WMs have cut the mainline singles back to eight pegs to make room for these “new” pegwarmers. 🙁

Here’s my take unlike Hasbro which is also owned by Mattel at least they are not ruining the cars series.

They are giving people new fun cars to collect, they are putting out new unique vehicles that many kids will love and they are still all diecast.

Now hasbro on the other hand took the wonderful littlest pet shop line, removed the tiny magnet so they no longer work in playsets and than stamp a stupid lps on the butt or side of the animal.

My daughter now hates the new designs, loves the pets but doesn’t want writing or worthless garbage.

So at least our cars don’t have CARS stamped in bright red and at least they are still metal.

I find these cars even more fun than the originals, yes nice to have cars from the movie, but I never bought them because the car was in the movie. I bought the cars because I love them and I like to think my son would have too.

Afterall the movie came after the cars.

I’d like to see the look on the Hasbro folks’ faces when someone tells them they’re owned by Mattel! 🙂

Maybe you were thinking of Fisher-Price.

I LOVE Checklist Week at TakeFive!!

  • iamspeed says:

I dream of the day when the TRACTORS show up on the US shores and in our stores!!! (Like that rhyme?)

  • PirateDad says:

I like these Cars BETTER than the originals…Pixar took character we LOVE and really animated them and made the even MORE fun the the movie…and in turn Mattel (read that Martin with no help from Mattel) made tehm into Rolling FUN art…

To those that aren’t collecting them, I wonder why you bothered in the first place?? It’s like saying to your wife, sorry honey, you don;t fit in your wedding dress anymore..you are not Canon to the Original Wedding, I can;t collect you anymore…NEXT!!! 😆

    (MET: 😆 ).

    • chuki_mama says:

      😆

Instead think of the new line as a renewal of vows!! Giving you a new reason to “Fall in Love” again with the Cars..

    • John in Missouri says:

      tehm? 😆

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

If you’re a toy manufacturer the Christmas toy season is the best time to introduce a new line and sell inventory. As the calendar nears December 25th, all these Car Toons will be flying off the shelf, if for no reason than these may be the only new Cars toys to buy. Expect more of the Car Toon line to appear. The name of the game now is to produce a Car Toon to sell a toy line. It’s that simple.

    • Aaron & Jeanne Scriven says:

i think thats a great analogy!! i LOVE the toons cars!!! i mean sure they should come out with more on the regular line!! but its so fun getting these new ones tooo!!!! collect them ALL!!

    • Matt says:

Or you could look at it another way…. Mattel has conned you into opening your wallet even further for a line that is overpriced (selling mater as an oversized), and no guarantees that they will finish….

If you want to talk about vows… mattel has not really shown us that they will keep their promise that they will finish the first line… as it seems to be on the back burner compared to the toons line.. It won’t be long until they move on to something else, and give up that line as well… oh yeah, and then here come the story tellers.

I would love to give mattel money for the series that I used to love to collect. I hate to be a debbie downer, but I have grown very tired of the gimmicks, purposeful errors and variants, poor distribution, and most of all, the changeover to lenticulars. It has drained the joy out of collecting for me, and I just look at it all as one big con job by Mattel to squeaze more and more out of us, for nothing much different. Who wants another box or three pack with McQueen, King, or you insert your std. peg warmer car here, with one new one, or another with a slight smile, rather than a full smile.

Sorry guys…. I can really see why we have lost some of our gang.

      • Aaron & Jeanne Scriven says:

i can say i do agree with you on the negatives thats for sure.. but we love the cars tooo much to give them up! 🙂 lol

      • DLMcQueen says:

Yep… Spot on there… So it’s really more like loving your first wife more than all the rest of the wives in the harem. 🙂

      • PirateDad says:

Mattel had NOT broken their vows to us…their original plan and promise was TWELVE Cars…we asked for MORE, they delivered…well they got lost, and elasticed to mailboxes and conefused along the way, but eventually they delivered!

Mat, on a personal side, Does Debbie Downer Do Mattel?? heehheeeee

      • L8rM8r says:

I am 50/50 on this subject and try not to get too involved, but lets not forget that the new “Finish Line” series are 4.99 and what has changed from the original line to this, ooh yeah that’s right the card back….

That being said, I said I would not collect the haulers, and I have them all.. I thought I might not collect the toon stuff and guess what I have them all.. I guess I have the collector bug and I really love this line as does my son so that fuels the passion.

It is all up to personal preference and in some cases a matter of $$ as these things are not getting any cheaper, but I don’t think that it is some grand evil plan of Mattel with variants and then changing certain cars to be more accurate representations of the movie characters. I just think that they are tying to give everyone what they want in as many ways as they can, but make no mistake there is a plan to make money in there and they are not stupid by putting in certain releases as a launcher or in a 3 pack, so I can understand the frustration.

Like I said I am 50/50 on this and could argue both sides all day. I just hope that you do get what you want and they finish out what is an amazing line of die-cast cars.

      • Monica says:

I also see it this way Matt. The mainline singles that are left to be released, even though we collectors all want them, are minor characters and little kid Cars fans (the probable majority of the Mattel customer base) are simply not interested. Your average 2-3 year old could not give a half a hoot about boring old Skip Richter (poor Skip). The Cars Toons and Storytellers are aimed at keeping the Cars line fresh, interesting and current for the little fellas to stay with the line until Cars 2. Final lap will trickle 2-3 new releases out a month for the next year and a half or so, period. I don’t mind it one bit. I am loving the Cars toons, reveling in the Storytellers and salivating over the Christmas Cars. More of a good thing? Yes please! But only because they are genuine, not some phoned-in crap.

      • CaptainChunk says:

Or conversely, Mattel has been nice enough to save me money by making this line far more interesting than what the mainline has become. Instead of buying a $11 launcher just to get the “new” car that is in it, I can spend $6 on a shiny new take on everyone’s favorite tow truck. 😉

  • babychristianscars says:

Love them, but will hold out for 4 packs so I don’t have to buy that and the singles.

  • Matt says:

Honestly, I am glad that I am not collecting this line…. I still can’t believe that they are making almost all of these cars megasized which means you are paying $6.99 – $8.00 per car. Not to mention they then change the four pack facial expressions, or throw in one extra car, and you need to fork over $15-$22 for those.

They need to concentrate on the “Final Lap.” We have three new cars whereas the toons has released over 12 new ones in the last month.

We had the apparent golden age of cars…. which was questionable…

But now we are in the dark ages of cars as no one knows what cars are going to be released, and when. All we know is that Target has them all.

For now, long live Target!! (so long as they restock that is)

  • John in Missouri says:

    Dear Mattel,

I LOVE “Tow Buck Teeth For One Buck”, but where-oh-where is Brian Antenna Ball?

    Sincerely,
    John in Missouri

  • Hostile Takeover Banker says:

best diecast line of all time!
