Sure, they’ve been selling their 1:43ish CARS (and the tuners) since 2006 …
But they’ve taken the logical step … added some lights underneath and a plastic base (top is still diecast metal) …

Size comparison to Mattel 1:55? That is only problem with the Disney Store CARS. Good solid detailing and sculpting but not that consistent in size … for instance, Disney Boost is only about 20% larger than Mattel 1:55 CARS but others …
Closer to 30-40% larger …
So while they have the same assets to model from – they don’t spend as much time as Mattel in looking at the CAR in every scene, it’s might look just look smaller or larger from that angle in that particular scene … not that Mattel is perfect 🙂 Though remember, ultimately Pixar does sign off …

Their regular 1:43(ish) CARS are normally $5.50 each so for only a fun dollars more, the light up versions are a great deal and very nicely done.
Guess they save money on the twist ties and plastic tabs … the Mattel ones are heavy gauge while the Disney Store ones are much flimsier and shorter … 🙂

These GLOW Tunerz ROCK…kids played in the dark with them for an hour..PirateSon took one to bed with him…they were so much fun…. I think I heard “we got ourselves a nodder” 100 times tonite!!!

this has been what i always dreamed of. I think Disney has done some research and really working to give us value-for-money cars.

Love them! The night colors are bright except DJ, is less so. The batteries are button batteries and easy to find in drug stores.
Has Mattel ever made diecasts with lights?

Now they need THAT DJ to have speakers and an audio input jack.

(MET: Someone mentioned that some DisneyStore.com items are stickered with a giant white label – if you’re opening, no biggie but if you’re buying one to save, not sure if it’s true of every item but worth considering as I’m sure how difficult it is to remove … AND they do not offer pre-paid returns).

man i am telling you, out thi sin teh 1:55 scale and you have a winner! I have a custom snot rod in 1:55 and he is nothing like this one posted here. Met, I will take some pictures of him and send them to you for a comparison.

I’m with you; I’m sticking with the regular die-cast. I’ve had enough trouble finding those since we started that I don’t know if I have the ambition to collect for Cars II. I guess that will depend on my boys. But that being said these are very cute and if Gramma sent them for Christmas that’d be OK
