No real surprise for CARS as both the DVD & Blu Ray DVD have all been released in early November.
Pre-order at Amazon.com is up & running for the 2009 Blu Ray version of CARS which of course includes two Mattel diecast CARS: The exclusive GOLD RANSBURG Cruisin’ McQueen and the re-release of Megasize Rescue Squad Mater.
It is listed for $49.99 – Amazon is offering it for $39.99.

You get the re-release CARS in Blu Ray now with “DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1” replacing the previous PCM audio tracks.There is no official artwork yet so unknown if the Blu Ray DVD art is changed.

This $139.99 package includes the Deluxe Blu Ray DVD plus a Luxo lamp with a base that holds “your Pixar DVD collection.” It does look like it lights up but is it plastic or metal?
And last year, Pixar employees were allowed to buy one from Thinkway that actually came with a remote and would move around – I’m hoping this is that one but no indication on the outside of the box it comes with a remote and moves around. It looks like you can manually adjust it and it does look like it comes with a bulb so it might just be “a lamp.” … but waiting to hear back on more details.

Would love to get the Blu-Ray exclusive vehicles but, just like last time, we do NOT and CANNOT afford a player and will not buy a useless disc just to get the exclusives!?!
The exclusives alone were selling for as much, if not more, than just the discs themselves???
Also, we would REALLY love to get the LUXO Jr. LAMP but, we have VERY LITTLE extra money and CANNOT afford to spend $140.00 on a toy – let alone anything else!?!
If companies (and our Government) were less greedy and realized there is STILL a recession going on AND if those of you who have money to burn would STOP OVERPAYING for this stuff then, maybe prices would be cheaper and MORE of us regular collectors could afford to add them to our collections?
Since it appears to be a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack, you could just get it for the DVD & toys, and save the Blu-Ray disc for a later time.

I think the listing is incorrect and Mater’s Tall Tales MUST be included with these sets.
Why in the world would they choose Rescue Squad Mater out of the HUNDREDS of cars actually in the movie unless the Tall Tales would be included??

Definitely will order this. I held out and never saw cars til 11/18 the year it came out. The day my son died was 11/18 so this is great the new car is coming in Nov.

**NEWS FLASH** BULLETIN: All New Die-Cast Cars for the rest of this year 2009 will only be 75% Die-Cast & 25% PLASTIC… However, next year Disney/Pixar/Mattel/China hope to have their GREAT SELLING LINE OF DIE-CAST CARS down to only about 1% Die-Cast and 99% PLASTIC = the AXEL, or much like the “WASTE OF TIME TO MAKE & GREAT PEG WARMERS”; the MINI’s!

Well that is why I didnt mention the Best Buy version. I wish Amazon would get their descriptions correct. Not only with this item but they haven’t gotten other stuff correct for years.
That’s a legitimate complaint. I just thought they purposely left out the description until they got more information from the distributor or manufacturer.
I run a website on specific rc cars, they havent gotten the Dale Jr description on right in 5 years. I have tried and they have sent out any ol version they want.
not to mention the 3 other versions of the other drivers also.

I’ve never had any problem getting the correct item from Amazon. Most likely the Blu-Ray/DVD description is not complete because they have not received the official description from DHV (they have a couple of months to get it right).
I’m not sure which $150 Dale Jr. item you are trying to buy, but it’s probably from a Marketplace seller. Those descriptions CAN be a crap-shoot at times.

Best Buy says 2 toy cars and no mention of what cars or diecast. Amazon has always come through for my dad and myslf and we buy a lot from them and no tax and free shipping. If it is wrong you can return with no problem.

Also, even though the die cast Cars are not going to be released with a DVD pack, the Blu-Ray is listed as a 2-Disc set which includes the Blu-Ray AND regular DVD on the Best Buy listing. So you can still get the Cars and regular DVD together. 🙂

You can just order this from the amazon.com website not your local country version and they will ship from the US. Just got my copy and shipping was only $9.98 to the UK

No the shipping is $9.98 you still need to pay the $39.99 for the DVD and your get the cars thrown in… Given that the Gold Ransburg is up for $99.99 of e-bay it’s not a bad deal…
Don’t forget you will have to pay customs charges when it comes into the country, and that could be pretty steep – could be about £10 extra on customs for a $40 DVD.

For comparison, Monsers Inc is also releasing on the same day on Blu-Ray & DVD pack. So I would think they’d be consistent for multiple movies.
