Slight update and info in regards to CARS2 … from Digital Spy.
“For Cars 2, the whole Radiator Springs gang will hit the open road.
“It’s Radiator Springs, and then the characters go to other places as well,” Lasseter said.”
As for the character of Doc Hudson?
“Lasseter is faced with the dilemma of repurposing earlier recordings of Newman to keep him in the sequel or just letting him go out of respect.
“We haven’t really [addressed it yet],” Lasseter said in a group interview today in Beverly Hills, Calif., after a press conference for the upcoming animated release Ponyo. “We’re still working on that.”
And from the first press conference?
“Racing star Lightning McQueen teams up with his best friend Mater for an international adventure as they go up against the world’s fastest cars.”

I wonder if they’ll re-release Cars in 3D like they’re doing to Toy Story?
Will there be a non 3-D version of this movie released at the same time? My kids don’t sit too well for 3-D; they don’t like wearing the glasses (they’re too big?). It would be nice if they made kid size 3-D glasses for a kids movie
So far, all of the Disney 3D movies have also been released to non-3D theaters (that’s how I saw both “Bolt” and “Up”).
(MET: Yes, CARS2 is in 3D and they are going back to 3D all the Toy Story movies (re-releases begin soon) but no word if CARS1 will get the “re-do” treatment … maybe when CARS 3 comes out in 2014 🙂 ).
if you have enough time on your hands to troll through all the Youtube garbage spouting to be Cars 2 trailers there is one that holds my interest. I’m not sure what one it is but it does have lots of screenshots from Cars 1.(they all do and that’s what makes them rubbish). HOWEVER, there is 1 that has some screenshots mixed in of other Cars I have never seen that look awesome. There is a yellow lambourgini thing and a funny looking hot rod too.
Funny enough, we’ve had this discussion in our family before and although you can’t replace Paul Newman’s voice (or love of racing, etc) for voice alone I think Sam Elliott could provide a decent substitute if they decided to go that route.
They could always cut and paste his spoken words from all of his movies to create his lines for Cars 2.
maybe they will start the movie with a pan of Radiator Springs, and there beside Stanley’s statue are 3 new statues……. the Screamin Banshee came to town, and it wasn’t pretty…..

Now there is one story I would love to have told about how he met Lizzie and founded Radiator Springs!
Really thought this would be one of the storytellers stories but no!Maybe in the future?

About the Banshee maybe in the Disneystore line like Frank!
Nothing bad about the one available with the mini Mater but full size diecast would be more like it!
About our past away Cars I think it is very difficult to bring up the subject of death in A childrens movie,I think they really have A hard time how to deal with this at Pixar!
Especially their personal emotions on this after all Joe Ranft(Red)was one off the founders of Pixar!I wish them strength and my love!

Not really respectfull in the Cars world!He!s death so let’s make scrap metal from him in the junkyard!I think they would have A proper cemetery like we do!At least something to remember them by,no?
Believe me, Disney has no problem with death in their children’s movies.
I do not mean they have A problem with death in the movie but how to get it in the movie!Doc and Fillmore are important figures and difficult to cut from the sequel so they will have to come up with A very good story!

I still would like to know how Red met Mildred Bylane in 1943 when Red is a 1950’s Fire Engine……. any theories on that one….
my favorites are Ursala getting impaled with the ship, and Syndrome getting sucked through an airplane engine…
I love Doc and Paul Newman is Holy but did everyone forget about Fillmore and Red(not that he really says much) what will happen with their voices?

My sister is law works for a big clothing company who sell Disney licenced stuff. She had a meeting at Disney last week. She claims to have seen the trailer of Princes and the frog and CARS 2! So if the trailer is ready, maybe we can expect to be teased sometime soon…
And what was the trailer for Cars 2 like? PLEASE DON’T LEAVE US HANGING GARY!!

I think it will be very interesting to see how the whole Doc thing plays out. I guess if he has a limited roll, it would be easy to piece together a few things for him, otherwise . . . who knows.
Well, the studio can splice together sentences from word fragments from Cars I. If the crew takes off for Europe, Doc Hudson can transform into Herr Doktor with a German accent.
Didn’t Paul Newman record additional material for Pixar? Or would that have just been for “Mater and the Ghostlight”?
Maybe they will actually count the number of racers this time and release them all!
