Ladies & Gentlecars,
Bad news, It took me an extra hour to get home from SDCC this afternoon. Traffic was teribble 🙁 It was hates.
Good news, it was worth it 🙂 The hard work that everyone did was awesome.
Met Met and Kevin on Weds, and redid the entire Cars display case finishing about one half hour before the show opened. Yikes!!!!!!!! LUCY………….
Everybody from Take5 pulled together to get everybody their SDCC Exclusives. As Jake says it was a little dicey at first but Mattel stepped up and it was all good for everybody 🙂
At the Cars panel I made sure I gave a shout out to all who were able to make it happen this year for Cars @ the Con. Seems every year Cars gets better and better. Next year’s offering should float your boat………..
Met, it was a pleasure as always, looking forward to doing all again next year. Can’t wait to see the high res images that you shot as we were redesigning the display case 🙂

SDCC 2009 Friday (late night) update:
We were smooth talkin’, ego schmoozin’, wheelin’, dealin’, and even made a Starbucks Run for some Mattel peeps on our way to obtaining 224 SDCC Rescue Squad Mater Sets today.
We refused to be denied and now I can proudly announce that with the self-sacrificing help of Tricia, Chuki Mama, and Monica, we have secured enough SDCC Rescue Squad Mater Sets to fulfill every single order and quantity requested with two days to spare — and actually take some time to enjoy!!
We even had enough time to get in line and grab a few for Met so he didn’t have to.
We all talked to Met and Martin on several occasions, met Deano from Cars The Toys (Yuku), as well as Pit Stop Vegas from right here on Take5.
AWESOME! You guys and gals are Comic Con ROCK STARS! Once again, MANY people owe all of you BIG THANKS!!!! Personally, I am just MAD at you guys for having so much fun without ME!!!!

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a complete current singles checklist in order of release and with the card numbers for each Car? Thanks! 🙂
do you mean like all card backs or just ror? met has a bunch of lists, also the book, and the new magazines coming out 🙂 woot woot!
I need a list of the different Cars (singles) in order of release from day one regardless of which card back. I couldn’t find a checklist here that covered this.
ohhh.. hmm theres a big checklist that has like the card back order.. which would follow like the releases you are looking for but you would have to go through it if you are only wanting one of each.. the actual cars book that met did goes through every release from 2006-2007 and then if you combine that with the lists hes made i guess you could get them that way.. LOL i guess i could be misunderstanding completely what you want hahah 🙂 just trying to help LOL

now the book is super cool and has tons of info as far as what is what and what is released, you should get it anyway!! 😀 LOL but the new magazines that hes coming out with have multiple lists in them depending on how the people are collecting.. so you might want to look into that too.. so far he just has the desert series and just came out with supercharged, but i already have the desert one and it is very clear as far as a checklist goes.. LOL AND you dont have to mark in the pretty book lol.. although i have trouble wanting to mark in the magazine too hahahha
I’m a canon (Cars movie only) collector trying to complete the Cars 1 collection without having to build a warehouse. 😆 But I think I can squeeze in a few books. 😉

I took photos of every single Cars item on display except for horned Mater because it somehow had tipped over and was on the top shelf so I had no way to get a good shot. So if you don’t see them in there, then they were not at the show.

You don’t know how hard Mattel made it to get the Rescue Squad Maters. You had to get a ticket the night before or around 9 a.m. today just to be able to purchase them. I, of course, arrived at about 10, but didn’t get in until noon, and then was informed that I’d have to wait until tomorrow because the line was closed for the day. I told them that I wouldn’t be here tomorrow, to which they said “You’re screwed.” Thanks, that really makes me feel better. There were plenty of other people who were quite upset. Oh well, I got to meet Martin and Kevin, and see all these neat cars on display. My favorite is the McQueen from Tokyo Mater: that is one sick ride!

Looking at the Dinoco MQ with the Piston Cup, he certainly lloks like the rims have been fixed…gold rims FINALLY!!
No P.D. no gold rims as we have 2 right in front of us. Gold Piston Cup and Dinoco McQueen with blue rims unless there will be a variant.

Okay. I think I figured this out…I was saying the WRONG Car name…Bling Bling might have been fixed… and I think whoever set up the booth just put him with the Piston Cup, although the Dinoco MQ is the one who is packaged with the Cup!

Well Jake says that it does have GOLD rims. When will this version be released? Well I have yet to see the latest 3 pack that feautures the re-release of Gold Mia and Tia with Bling Bling McQueen. Could that one be it? Has anybody seen this new 3 pack that can verify this?
I just saw these new 3 packs this morning. The bling bling McQueen in it is the same one. No gold rims. Maybe a future Chase Car.

I think they are part of a new playset, together with the crane on the right. Probably plastic.

the crane is from the Doc’s courtroom. It is in one of the photos. Could this be the legendary Big AL?

That is one of the cranes in Tokyo Mater where Lightning and Mater are racing to catch up and beat the other drifter to the top of the tower! If you remember, their faces are identical to Frank.
Those are two of the ninja cars from Tokyo Mater. I think they are sitting on top of barrels that either opens, or pops up. That is why they are upside down. Look at the crane playset from the other side.

Toyko Mater cars are BLOWING my mind! Dragon MQ is freaking AMAZING!
Yeah that Dragon MQueen is sweet indeed. I know it will become a personal favorite of both my boys and I and I am really looking forward especially for this one. Mattel likes to stuff a lot McQueens into a new case. Well this is one that I am sure nobobdy will complain about if they do. However, with our luck, they will probably finally start listening to us that we don’t want too many McQueens and decide to limit this one that we do want.
Watch, they will only have 1 per case!

I LOVE Tokyo McQueen’s new rims, and all the diecasts look so exciting! I can’t believe there are this many cars still left in the line up. Bring ’em on!!!!
And sofar I see only about 10 of the 50 cars planned for the Target-only Final Lap collection (Vern, Donna Pits, Nick Stickers, Antonio Veloce Eccellente, Costanzo Della Corsa and a couple of Piston Cup fans & reporters), so there’s a lot more to come…..

i thought life in plastic was fantastic?…anyways.. welcome to our CARS die cast world. only a few folks around here like the lenticulars. general consensus is that they should do away with them. i only buy a few of those for my 2 boys because they like them as well as the classic line and it is because of them that i collect. the cars toons line is going to be out of this world. best die cast line ever as Met always says. they will be a nice segway into CARS 2. what a build up.
ya it all started with a lightning mqueen that my 2yr old shop lifted from the grocery store in march and now we have around 200 cars and me and my husband stalk target,tru,and walmart. it’s so funny because i am the one who did cars day at kmart not daddy, and my husband always calls me from the store to see what we have and what we don’t so it’s become a mommy and son thing more than a daddy and son thing. we have the lenticulars just because when they showed up at wallmart it was the only thing we didn’t have and the shelves have been pretty bare in our area of ct. the eyes remind me of cheap cracker jack prizes. i did find a saluting sarge tho he was pretty cool. and yes life in plastic is fantastic and i buy all my mommy friends with girls barbie gifts but i’m a proud momma of a ruff and tumble little boy and cars are his favorite and we have alot of fun playing cars and i would have never thought i would be playing cars but i wouldn’t have it any other way! xoxo
