Win Some Mattel Disney Pixar Kmart Diecast CARS From Fiddleheads in Maine

There’s a headline you don’t see everyday!

I was going to try and work the words “coon cat” in there but too long already 🙂

“Fiddleheads in Maine” has thoughtfully decided to donate 6 CARS from her Kmart Days collection for another contest!

Mini Front

Since we are about to celebrate Independence Day … your contest entry will be to regale with a nice family story of piling all the kids into a summer vacation road trip –  whether your trip was to a national monument or why you shouldn’t eat day-old fried clams 2,000 miles from the nearest ocean 🙂 … or BEAR – fight or flight?!

What was the valuable life lesson? (as a kid or as a parent 🙂  )

Don’t forget it’s important to know whether you traveled by minivan or SUV, or station wagon, Country Squire, Vista Cruiser or covered wagon …

She will pick out the best story and then randomly select a winner.

Shifty

You will win 6 CARS (you get to choose):

Clutch Aid
Tow Cap
No Stall
Moody Springs
Shifty Drug
Bumper Save
Vitoline Pitty
Mini
Todd
Patti

+ BONUS Poster (it’s the smaller cardboard promo poster…the one that was placed above a Cars endcap display. It’s about 2 ft. x 3 ft).

These may not be minty mint but all sealed – not for resell but for kids to play with … so good luck!

You may only enter once but feel free to comment as often as you like.

Contest ends Friday 11:59 PM Jul 10. 2009.

Thanks Heather-Fiddleheads in Maine and Happy Independence Day all.

Don’t eat too much BBQ – just enough to make you sleepy!

    Great Contest idea Fiddleheads…and thanks!

I, of course, have mnay stories, but since this one JUST happened, I will regale you with it!

So after a reasonably successful Canada Day Water Front Festival show that the PirateClan spent 5 days at, we were off on a mini vaca to visit friends just north of the show! My oldest and dearest friend, whom I had not seen in 3 years, has 4 children and a lovely wife, all of whom we adore and get along famously with. All of us had such a nice visit and we all went for many drives through the countryside and to the beach and this beautiful suspension bridge over a breathtaking gorge…. My friend even arranged a mini reunion with two friends I had not seen in 9 and 18 years, what a great BBQ that was, my poor wife forced to listen to ALL the STUPID things I did as a teenager!! hahaha

So on our way home, we were stopping at WM’s looking for Salutin Sarge, b ut while on the Interstate (401 here) I blew a tire on my trailer!! While the tire was unravelling it ripped off the fender of my trailer and went smashing down the highway behind us…. THANK the MANUFACTURER that no one was behind us and no one got hurt!!! We have dually wheels on the trailer, so we limped along the highway to the next town, to have the tire replaced…

Besides the fact that no one was hurt, the other wonderful part of this story is how many was just how many nice people came along to let us know about the tire, quite literally hundreds!!! Of course at the time I was feeling like, yeah yeah I know, leave me alone!!! 🙂 But it was nice that so many people were conecerned about us!

Moral of the story? Carry a freaking Spare for the trailer!!!!!

My wife, 3 kids, and mother-in-law drove from Arizona to Minnesota. I wasn’t able to go to Kmart on the 20th, so we stopped at every one along the way. On our journey I was able to find Mood Springs, Shifty Drug, and Bumper Save. We spent a couple days at my wife’s family reunion in Fargo. We visited our future sister-in-law. And ended up at my uncle’s lake home. We sat around a campfire at a lake and roasted marshmellows, while watching the fireworks.

I took my family on a drive thru the US.Starting from Toronto we drove down thru Buffalo to Pittsburgh and then over to Cleveland to check out
6 Flags close by anyway where driving all day family is very restless
and we get lost trying to find accomodations for the night.I pull over in an area surrounded by motels I think great now I we can rest and
get to the park first thing in the morning. While we’re pulled over trying to decide where to stay a polce car comes behind he and flashes
his lights as he approaches my car he is flashing his lights inside which is freaking my family out.Police officer comes to the side window
asks me what I’m doing and I advise him I was exhausted and needed a place to sleep as family was going to the park in the morning.Police officer advised me I was in the worst sections of town and very dangerous.Police officer saw that I was Canadian and gave me a police escort to a “better” area where we could find a hotel. He went out of his way driving us at least 25 minutes away where we had originally stopped.Moral of the story ALWAYS have an idea of where exactly you
are going and even a better idea of where you will be spending your
nights. All in all had a wonderful time seeing so many different Us cities and Six Flags was out of this world. Many fond memories that will
    last a lifetime.

I took my family to NYC this past weekend for the Holiday. We traveled to NJ (from PA, my home) via the SUV. Stayed in a NJ hotel at the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel. We took a Shuttle Bus into and out of the city. We traveled by foot from Times Square to FAO Swartz 14 blocks North. We saw all the Broadway and 5th Ave stops along the way. Mind you, I have 12 yr old and 6yr old sons and they were great the whole time. Saturday, we headed back into the city for the Statue of Liberty Tour via Ferry. Took a nightmare Taxi ride through traffic and people! Then saw Ground Zero, a Titantic Exhibit, Empire State Building, etc on our way back to Times Square. Took the Subway Train the last 15 blocks to save time and my kids feet and had dinner at Planet Hollywood. We finished dinner in time to see the Macys 4th of July Fireworks 5 blocks away. We jumped onto a bike taxi and headed to the piers. Saw the fireworks and then headed back to the NJ hotel via Shuttle Bus again and came home to PA Sunday afternoon. Great trip, lots of 1st’s for all of us, including the different transportation avenues (ferry, shuttle bus, taxi, bike taxi, and subway). I hope everyone had a safe Holiday weekend!

I have family in the Seattle area and we have gone down almost every year for forty years! We have gone off and on over the years to a place called Ocean Shores, WA for a fun time at the beach (albeit cold and windy but a good place to fly a kite). When I was a kid, I was really into stamp collecting and you could go to the Bon Marche or Frederick and Nelsons to buy a grab bag of used stamps still on a piece of envelope for about what I got for allowance. It was a cool bag as it was made of cloth. You never knew what kind of good stuff you might find in this bag. Well, what I did that my family has never forgotten is toss the entire contents of the bag into the motel sink filled with water to get the paper off the back of the stamp and then we all went for dinner. When I came back, the water had drained out of the sink and hundreds of stamps were now glued to the sink! Everybody came by and laughed but my mom and dad were pretty mad even though now I figure what was the big deal as you can just fill the sink up again and they eventually will come off! Childhood memories.

  • Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! We had rain here so no fireworks. Kind of a bummer but we still had fun eating way too much food.

These are some wonderful vacation stories so far…thanks for sharing. Keep them coming!

So today I’ve decided…the winner of this contest will also receive as part of the prize…my Maine Coon cat. Marnie is a very “special” cat. Not only will she try to murder you by suffocation in your sleep…she also finds Cars very tasty. She has taken great pleasure in softening my Frank’s plastic parts and Chick Hicks Fan Tia’s “C” hat with her needle like teeth.

Please take her!!! Pretty pleeaassee… 😉

My 3rd of July (hopefully not the 4th) was a trip to the hardware store to get the fixings for a shower repair! Found all the lenticulars at TRU today with the exception of AWOL Sarge. No sense in calling him Saluting when he cannot be found! 🙂

Well it’s not much of a vacation or road trip but I have just started my holidays and my almost 4yo is now a keen bike rider. His latest thing is riding his bike, with training wheels, to the local park, about half a mile away. Then there is me in tow with my 10month old in the pram, great sunny weather and a nice clean park (usually) for them to play on. It is just so cute to see him abide by all the road rules and even make sure I “slow down” and “look for cars”.

The valuable lesson for me is trying to spend the quality time with them, doing the things they love and want to do. Best of all most of the time, that sort of stuff is free!

  • ricky says:

We had a family trip to Los Angeles from Virginia. where my daughter, wife and myself visited friends in various places in LA attending BBQ’s then a long drive to San Diego to visit relatives and do the BBQ thing there. Then driving back to Los Angeles to fight traffic for Fireworks in Long Beach. All in all 17 Hours of drive time after landing at LAX and driving north and south. Spending time with friends and distant relaTIVES WAS SUCH A great TIME!

  • Dunroamin says:

    and Red Forman Says:
“It’s a Vista Cruiser, you can literally “Cruise the Vista”.”

  • Roswell says:

um…i went camping to sunny cornwall (the bottom tip bit) with my sister and brother and nephew and her dog, we went in her car…i dunno what it is…http://www.gpmc.org/Images/AndyVolvoWagon.jpg its one of those ones,
her dog ran off and returned with half a rabbi, and i ate a burger and cracked my tooth and we built a big sandcastle fort which got attacked by the sea, and it was cool!

and that is my holiday road trip story

(MET: When you say rabbi, you mean rabbit and not Rabbi? 🙂 … ).

    • John in Missouri says:

…now everyone is trying to say “bottom tip bit” 5 times fast.

    • Roswell says:

um…yes, rabbit does make more sense.

      • Eric says:

but probably takes you out of the hunt for best story. I think Rabbi definitely would have made a better story. As a matter of fact, whenever you recite that story to new friends, loved ones, people forced to listen to you talk on the plane … use half of a Rabbi instead of rabbit. The expression alone will be worth the “fib”. Enjoy!

  • jestrjef says:

    Nice idea! Good Luck folks!!

  • MackDaddy says:

I hope I’m the FIRST Winner!
