Mattel Awarded ALL of Bratz …
For those unware, Mattel has been tuggling with Bratz Doll owner, MGA over who actually owns Bratz Dolls. The designer of the line was under contract with Mattel when he sketched the Bratz Dolls.
Mattel won the first big round of the case when it was determined that the designer was definitely and legally under contract with Mattel. The next stage was the awarding of damages …
“A federal judge delivered a potentially fatal blow to the popular Bratz dolls and their manufacturer, MGA Entertainment Inc. that Mattel Inc. is the legal owner of the edgy toy line and has the right to recall all unsold Bratz.
The court order, which represents a major victory for toy giant Mattel, says MGA may no longer manufacture, sell, advertise or license its core lineup of Bratz dolls or any other product with the Bratz name.“
El Segundo - Mattel's legal department celebrates.
Okay, maybe not 🙂
So, now the big question is whether Mattel continues the line or just buries it in a fur thong …

Thanks Met…I can now sleep better knowing this.
I never really cared for these Hooker dolls. I found the changeable shoes on the dolls very disturbing. A girl has to basically dismember the doll in order to change the shoe. Since the shoe and foot are one molded piece, she has to pop the foot off at the ankle and replace it with another foot with shoe. Very creepy!
great to see your back. you were gone for a short while there 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
I’ve mostly been reading everyone’s posts but not having too much time to chat. Like a lot of folks, our family suffered a job loss so I’ve been busy working on a way to bring more income in and still be able to keep my job as a “Home Engineer” aka stay-at-home mom. I love to bake cakes, cookies, pies, etc…so I was thinking of starting a small bake shop out of my home this summer.
Wish me luck. 🙂
GOOD LUCK!!
Thank you so much. 🙂
I dislike the hooker dolls as well and have never bought them, not even as a gift for someone (LPS and MLP are much better options). They think that Barbie gave girls poor body image, what’ll these huge headed, tiny bodied, big footed bimbo’s do?
Also, welcome back and best of luck to you with your latest endeavors.
Thanks Monica! 🙂
I’m so thankful that my daughter never liked these dolls. LPS all the way!! 🙂
The standard employment contract usually has that clause stating anything created while employed there becomes the property of that company. Usually because you are using their tools and prior ideas to help create it in the first place.
Seems cut and dry to me. But I really don’t know the details of this case.
(MET: No, the “creator’s” excuse was not exactly one that passed the smell test … especially since he pitched the idea to Mattel).
Bratz dolls are banned from our house by three generations of women! They look like slutty bimbos. I think Mattel would be wise to discontinue the name and downplay some of the sleazy features.
My son is 4 and calls them the yucky girls

lol!!! i’m much further down the list.
This case actually caused quite a stir in intellectual property circles. Permanent injunction for Mattel on a copyright infringement case, woot!
MGA is based here in Van Nuys. They are a scummy porn company that somehow landed in the toy business. I’m glad they got slammed in court. They should have stuck to what they do best. Avoid MGA toys!! They have cooties.
Congrats Mattel!!!
Ironic about winnin’ custody of all these Bratz since rumors have it you are tryin’ to DISOWN Matty…
Look at that Barbie hot tub van — it is too short, and the hot tub should load from the rear, blah blah blah…
(just making fun of myself here folks!) 🙂
hahahahaha NOW that IS funny!! Plus, not enough cannonicity!
This Bratz thing has been going on for years now; if Mattel was smart they’d keep in on the market under the Mattel name. Why get rid of something that has been so popular (albeit totally ugly). Now that Mattel owns the rights they should keep it out there. But for my sake I hope they don’t because they’re so freakin’ ugly!!
Amen sister!
1st! Somebody had to be!
