Well technically they are not mine.  I am holding them in trust until my sons are old enough to understand why their Dad is such a ‘Nutter’

About 3 weeks ago.  I was searching for a complete list of cars and stumbled upon this site which only served to fuel my obsession.  My wife calls it the ‘nutter’ site.  She has a point!

WHAT WAS THE CRAZIEST THING YOU’VE HEARD ABOUT COLLECTING THESE CARS? (NEVER YOU, SOME OTHER PERSON’S CRAZY STORY ).
Driving around at midnight visiting 24hour stores(one after the other), instead of being warmly tucked in bed.

Also heard about this other gut who was planning on flying across to the States for a long weekend to trawl stores there and fill his luggage with cars for the return journey. Apparently he might time it to coincide with Kmart Car Day.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION?
We are only collecting one of each car (for each son), irrespective of the packaging, and figure we are about half way with the standard sized cars.  Oversized and haulers are only just hitting the UK now.  So technically we are waiting for quite a few, but the list is being chipped away at on a daily basis.

jestrjef – I have had this nick name since my high school daze.  As you could imagine, I always had something funny or wisea$$ to say!!  Never the class clown, but always in the mix!!

BIO?
Well, it appears I never want to grow up as I have never left SCHOOL!!  After high school in South Carolina . . . I went straight to college . . . but that didn’t go so well soooooooooo . . . . I was DEMOTED . . . to MIDDLE SCHOOL . . . .   and now  I TEACH, LOL!!  I teach middle school Physics, Algebra, Trigonometry, Health and Wellness through SPORT. Confused . . . for those of you that are not used to politically correct job descriptions . . .  I am Physical Education teacher!! Yeah, I said it PE!!  The most fun you can have in the sun in FLORIDA!!
I am also a husband and father. I have a 2 ½ year old son and a 4 year old daughter!!  Yes, we all love cars and YES we all must have one of each or a fight will break out. JestrWIFE normally steps in to break it up . . . I normally win because I am tall enough to hold what I want above everyone else’s HEAD!! HAHAHA!!

WHEN DID YOU START?
Looking back at things, I was a complete IDIOT!!  I tried to deny my inner CARSMA from the start.  I did not see the movie until 6 weeks after it was out. I just didn’t think it could take the place of TOY STORY in my life . . . did I mention I was an IDIOT?!?!?! CARS was the ONLY movie my wife and I saw in the 18 months after my daughter was born.  It was a date night and needless to say, I was hooked as soon as the intro started . . . . . . dark screen . . . race cars flashing . . . revving motors . . . DUDE!

WHAT WAS THE FIRST CAR YOU GOT?
The first car I found was not the FIRST car I bought.  After we saw the movie we immediately went to TRU, Target and Walmart . . . and we found ZIP!!  Nothing but empty pegs and one lonely Sally!! The next day we went to a different Target and I found ONE lonely Doc stuck on an end cap.  What happened next may haunt me the rest of my life!!!!

HOW LONG BEFORE YOU HAD CAR #2?
I took DOC over to the scanner-magigy and it showed price. An associate was going by and just happened to ask if I needed any help . . . I replied with a reluctant, “Yes, do you know if you have any more of these?”  The nice person told me to go up to the customer service desk and they could do a DCPI look up and pull it from the back.  (DCPI what the heck is that? I was green then!!) The nice lady at the desk said, “Yes, we have more in the back. I will get an associate to bring them up to the front.”   10 minutes later, a dude with a shopping cart showed up with two little boxes.  My first thought was, “Yippie! I am going to get a few more” . . . what I did not realize was there were 30 cars in each box!! They were brand new BOXES! SCORE!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I made a rookie mistake and only bought one of each that was in the box. Then I went home . . .

WHEN DID YOU DECIDE/REALIZE YOU NEEDED MORE THAN ONE?
After I got home with the big score, I thought I should have gotten 2 of each so that my DAUGHTER could have a few.  I went back the next day and picked up a second of every car they had!! I couldn’t believe I just spent $60 on CARS!!  I realize NOW that I got off pretty cheap. Now I have to buy 3 of everything because I was blessed with a wonderful son since this CARS Chaos began!!

WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOU HAD TO GO BIG INTO THIS THING?
Back in the day, I visited Ebay to find parts for the 1953 Chevrolet I was working on. For giggles, I thought I would see what I could find for info on the CARS scene.  It was then I realized my ROOKIE mistake . . .  I started seeing what Filmore, Lizzie and Sarge were selling for and realized that I had hit a GOLD MINE the previous day!!  I was so innocent I didn’t even know what I had found . . .

Some crazy people actually DRIVE to OTHER COUNTRIES to buy Cars and take them back to their home land!!  The last Goober I know sailed his PIRATE ship all the way to South Carolina just for Damaged King and Greta!!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CAR?
My favorite car is impossible to name, but I will admit to being a classic car-o-haulic.  Edwin, Hank, Dustin, Great . . .they are by far my personal favorites . . . but that is like picking which stack of  hundreds you are going leave when you rod a BANK!! JUST CANNOT LEAVE A MAN (or woman) BEHIND!!

I plan on adding the new TEAM Haulers to my collection in the next week.  I would love to see the Sarge’s Off-road BOOT Camp gift set!!  Gotta have the Marco brothers Jet Set . . . . and my last request would be for “Lost in the Desert” Van!!  You know at the end where he and wife are rolling tired and slow through the desert, tumbleweed sticking out of every where and his 5 o-clock car beard!!  LMBO!!

WHEN DID YOU START?

The same week the movie opened at theaters.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST CAR YOU GOT?

My wife and I took are 2 kids to see Cars the night it opened, and loved it so much, we went to see it again that same week.  My wife told me she had seen some diecast toys at Wal-Mart, but when I took the kids over, there wasn’t much left to choose from.  There was one Mack Truck Playset on the bottom shelf, but the box was all gooey from lotion or something, so apparently nobody wanted to buy it.  Our kids were still in diapers, so we alway carried wipes with us.  I cleaned the box off with some wipes, and we bought it.

HOW LONG BEFORE YOU HAD CAR #2?

We went back to Wal-Mart a few days later to look for some more Cars, but with not much luck.  We already knew we wanted 2 of everything, 1 for each kid.  We walked around the toy department to see if we could find some, and when I spotted an employee, we went up to her to see if she knew of anything being put out.  The whole time, my son was tugging at me to look at something, and thinking he wanted to show me the kid-size riding John Deere tractor, I said “that tractor is cool buddy”, b ut he said “no Daddy, not that, THAT!”.  Right under the tractor was a loose Mack Truck!  The toy department employee said that it was found opened in the store, and was being returned to the manufacturer.  I asked her if I could buy it, but she said only with a UPC code.  So we brought it to Customer Service counter, ran home to get other Mack’s box and receipt, and brought it back to make the purchase.

As soon as my then 4-year-old daughter said she wanted her own set of Cars.

As soon as the Supercharged series came out!

Not exactly “crazy”, but probably a friend who always had her Mom check her local stores for Cars toys.  She even began to look for ones that *I* didn’t have!
