As many of you know, we had a checkup at EDITGRID but it got a little too unweldy and as a straight spreadsheet while useful in some ways – was limiting because the online version only allowed limited typefaces. So while power users can continue to download that one and add to it and have power sorting and pasting, most people requested a checklist they could simply print so in the past few days, we have put up some checklists and well add others along the way … but here is the big kahuna of check lists – the COMPLETIST CHECK LIST.

Now, note this is not a mega completist check list as Mattel released about 15 box sets in the first couple years and since they were all essentially repeats of the singles & Movie Moments, they are NOT included.

Neither is the MSOS set with the 36 Piston Cup racers, you pretty know what you have and there is a piston Cup racers checklist available outside of the MSOS set.

These are the symbols you’ll see below and in things to note in general.

DESERT ART

Pretty straightforward- a few major packaging variants, some minor CAR variants – more details to follow.

SUPERCHARGED

Other than the change to Fabulous Hudson Hornet, not too many CAR variants but there is the packaging variant with the posters. Some English-only packaging are Canada only. More details to follow.

WORLD OF CARS

Some CAR variants but mostly of not, the NEW SNIPE along with the WM8 as packaging variants.

EXCLUSIVES & OTHER FORMATS

Here is where it can get a little complicated but also keep in mind, 50% of this list is repeats so those serious completists already have a good idea so I’m not going to go too indepth (other than to saym buy and read our book 🙂 ).

Note – the Movie Double CARS are shown as ‘packaging variants’ under SC. While not technically correct, I did not think they warranted another column making everything that much smaller. Most of the “Exclusives & Others” are either obvious (like Sidewall Shine or Dinoco 400 but note, many fall in the ‘others’ category like the seasonal re-releases on a pumpkin blister or in an egg – not as obvious).
