Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Kabuto Ninja Toon Diecast
The re-release of Toon Kabuto Ninja has finally arrived.

It is a slight variant in one aspect, at least.
It is missing the carbon fiber tamp decal (previous release on left).
Everything else seems to be the same but there’s some question about the new faceplate. The previous release (on the left) was plastic … the new faceplate is a color mismatch so it might be metal. It’s not a unobody and it’s difficult to tell as Mattel has perfected the thinnest possible metal that retains its shape so it might be metal or just poor plastic, in any case, even if it’s metal, the color is a mismatch so we’ll call the 2015 release the error variant.

I would die to get the Catbus from Totoro; but I suspect they can’t do that for licensing reasons.
heck, mismatched face plate or not, I’m thrilled they re-released Ninja,
along with Cho. Now bring on the other missing Tokyo Mater background cars!

I just opened our first Kabuto Ninja (2015) and the spoiler is molded with carbon fiber texture…
I have the ninja from its first release and i dont see a tampo on the spoiler. Weird.
Interesting. All four of my Ninja are from the old releases, yet three have the decal, and one has the raised molded carbon fiber section on the spoiler.
if that decal is as delicate as the one on 2013/2014 Tokyo Mater’s spoiler, I can see why they left it off, it flakes/chips off very easy
I just went and checked mine… Same here! The date code is 2110 EAA. I wonder if they changed it in later Case releases?
