Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Spotlight on Nelson Blindspot
Nelson Blindspot is a nice addition to the Deluxe lineup. Not only is he is a huge metal diecast but he comes with glued on headset AND a giant plastic camera accessory.
Thanks, “John H.” for some great photos.
At a quick glance, he looks like a repaint of “Murphy,” from the Sarge Boot Camp SUV set.
But Nelson Blindspot is actually a new mold also – an upgrade to a unibody. No longer is his grill and mouthpiece an attached plastic piece.
He is all metal. Nice.
A surprising upgrade but again, presumably cheaper in the long run not to have to order an additional plastic and extra work to glue it on.
Of course, Chuck Choke Cables was also upgraded to a metal unibody.
And a particularly nice detail – each camera is personalized as it was in the movie. A nice touch and a slight extra cost.
Thanks for the great photos, “John H.”
During the entire Christmas season from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve the only castings to be found that wasn’t peg warming material was Chuck and Nelson. I found those castings twice at TRU and twice at one particular Target. Outside of that I found nothing. I did buy a set of Ruka and Ichigo for $8.49 on eBay which is the equivalent of buying retail plus sales tax.
I’ve got a different take on it than most collectors. I am a collector of toys, and toys are meant for kids to enjoy. Therefore, I buy almost nothing at retail stores, and leave it on the pegs for the kids to enjoy and play with. I’ll gladly pay a bit extra for what I want via a collector’s network because of that, so the fact that store shelves are empty only irritates me in that kids can’t find the toys they want. Where will the next crop of collectors come from?
Interesting take. I see where you are coming from, but…Don’t you think that parents buy toys for kids?
True enough, the parents have the money, but often the child is the driving force in knowing what they want …
Nelson is indeed a nice solid chunk of metal.
I have a Cora Copper in package “on the water” from a Chinese back door seller. We’ll see how she looks when she arrives in a few weeks. Same seller also had the Allinol chemist, now named Lee Race’.
It was a pleasant surprise to have found Nelson at our local Target on Friday afternoon. Great pictures, John !
The back of the “RSN – Racing Sports Network” card has pics of a few upcoming issues; (Camera Girl) Cora Copper, Chuck Cables, Timothy Twostroke, Matthew McCrew and last, but not least, Todd.
