Kmart.com Shipping & Order Confirmation Issues

Here is an official update. Thanks Dev!
We have identified 85 individuals whose orders were cancelled. The email you received was incorrect. The cancellations were not because of an “out of stock”, but for paypal or credit card declines.  I have a team looking into this to check if there is some systems issues, but so far most of the declines seem to be from paypal or the credit card companies. Many financial institutions decline multiple transactions to the same vendor if made during a short time window to limit fraud/errors.

I have the team calling you individually to confirm you want to “re-run” the transaction or provide a different form of payment.  We don’t hold all of your information, so we can’t run the transactions again without talking to you.  Also, given the way the system works, if the payment method is declined again after we talk to you, we may need to call you again.

However, I have put all order inventory on-hold so that you don’t lose your orders.

2. Father’s Day event

The event will take place in all continental US stores this Saturday at 11am local time.  I spoke to all of the store managers and district managers yesterday on a conference call to discuss the event and give them your feedback on how important it is to follow the guidance on how to run a GREAT event for collectors.  I would love to get your feedback on stores that do a great job and any stores you see not providing you with a great experience.  Please let me know who we should congratulate and where we need to help the stores for the next event.

I will be posting tomorrow a coupon for $5 off any $50 of soda, chips etc that you can use on the day of the event as a thank you from me to all of you for your help and feedback. I hope you can use it if you decide to have a trunk sale or any other gathering of Cars fans.  I’d like to do more next time, so let me know what you think would be a good way to support collectors who come to these events.

3. International Orders

Many of you have asked about ordering and fulfillment from outside the US. I have a team looking into how we can do this both quickly and in a more systematic way for the next event – stay tuned.

He signed off some time ago, can’t blame him a bit after days and weeks of tirelessly searching for information on the pre-sale, then taking on the order issues that we’ve all been dealing with…….thanks again, Nascarfan, you da man.

    It could be a fluke(the case that jestrjef received), and all of the other cases will be correct, but I know I’ll be checking any cases I receive before shipping them off to fellow TakeFivers. A Kmart case is what we’re all expecting………anything else is unacceptable.

    This is NOT an assortment case, This is the Kmart Exclusive case. Mattel told Kmart exactly what they would be getting in this exclusive case, and Kmart advertised those exclusives. this is in NO way an assortment case.

    I’m in agreement with you on the cases being left in the same, sealed condition that you received them. However, I’ve got extra cases promised to other TakeFivers, but they will be asked ahead of time if they want the case checked before I ship it, and I will take it up with Kmart myself if they ship incorrectly packed cases after all of the promises regarding the “Kmart” case for the last few weeks.

  • I will be shipping out every case I sold and each case will be factory sealed and NOT searched. I have been in the eBay business for over 7 years and know buyer’s habits. If there is Negative feedback to be received it will happen regardless of whether or not the customer knows beforehand that there is a problem.

    Can you imagine the stuff hitting the fan is the Ebayers selling pre-sale cases ship off cases with the wrong contents?
    Massive negative feedbacks, not even the direct fault of the seller, but proving that selling something sight unseen, that you’ve never had your eyes on(they’re being sold as SEALED cases), can really come back and bite you in the butt.

    This problem with the case contents should be brought to the attention of Dev, Nascarfan’s Kmart connection.
    He’s made the comment more than once that he wants feedback on the Cars event, so I would hope that this would go to the top of the list of problems.
    What you received was obviously not the exclusive case that was represented for several weeks now.

    Yeah, but on the regular case that go out to retail, how often if EVER have you seen a case that far off of what is expected??

    It almost sounds like they are treatig this case like a hotwheels case. I wonder if the cases at the event tomorrow will be that random?

    I don’t make the rules, just stating how it works from a “generic” manufacturer standpoint. They never, ever, guarantee the contents of the package. They give a basic idea of what to expect but because it is an assortment there is no guarantee.

    It’s very similar to trading cards where it is stated that there is say, 1 Autograph per box “on average”. You could get 3 or you could get zero. But because it states “on average”, there is very limited liability on the part of the manufacturer.

    I hope that is a one case OOPS . . . if this is what Mattel did to KMART when they asked for MORE cases to pre-sell . . . that is just wrong . . .

    I also hope that they cases in the store are going to be the expected case pack and not that second one.

    I was really looking forward to a fun peaceful Kmart day with the entire family, because I preorderd the case and I would not need to get 3 of every car at the event.

    Now I have no idea when they are coming (I also got the “sorry, more are coming next week” email) or what the heck will be in the box when it arrives.

    I can see me sleeping really well tonight . . . I am going to be having crazy car dreams like John in Mizzou!! LOL

    I am curious on where some of you live that received their cases…. i put in multiply orders but the only one that shipped was to my parents house in texas. (none of my orders shipped to my home address in illinois) Also the order to texas was made later in the day then the illinois address. (so kmart is not sending out orders in the order that they were received)

    So if you sell someone a sealed case, that person is taking the risk of possibly getting 1 Patti and 17 LM? I’m going tomorrow just to ensure I get 1 of everything in case I get stuck with a bunch of andreas…if I do, they will be returned to kmart…highest price in town.

  • Having been in a similar industry in a previous life, I can tell you that vendors are not responsible for manufacturing errors. And in the case of toys, not only are they listed as “Subject to Change”, but the fact that they are considered as “Assorted” pretty much makes it a lost cause. You could possibly get Mattel to send you something as an apology gesture, but I doubt they would replace all of the missing contents.

    I ordered 2 Cases… One was correct, the other as described above…

    I sent a message to Kmart customer service, but I am doubtful they will replace the case.

    Gonna take my chances tomorrow with everybody else…

    I got the same message that iamspeed shows above. I really am glad that they sent me a message assuring delivery, but I now have to fight the urge to go to a store tomorrow and buy the ones I want. Somewhere deep in me I have a fear that in an effort to make up to all of the people who had problem, They’ll run out before they get to me. I am sure I am just being paranoid…..

    Boy, being a Cars collector is not an easy job!!!

    I sent a pic of the cars off to admins… here’s to hoping that Kmart receipts just have a Cars SKU to ring up by and I can get what I need tomorrow and return these unfortunate oddballs…

    I’m still fuming… I know they always say “Assortment subject to change”… but that doesn’t help.

    And no, I do not think this was a switch by someone during packing/shipping… case was sealed and the insides of both cases were identical… well identical except for the characters.

    I was hoping to avoid Kmart tomorrow…

    Can’t catch a break… 1st the store fiasco trying to buy for my nephew last year and now this case assortment?!?!?!?!?!?

    Well, here’s the icing on the cake.

    I just received this email from Kmart:

    Dear Valued Customer,

    We want to thank you for your recent Kmart.com order for the Disney Cars
    Collector Event 18 Pack (item number 004W025571110001). We want to
    assure you that we will be fulfilling your order as soon as the shipment
    from our supplier arrives at our warehouse. We are expecting additional
    product early next week, and upon receipt, our warehouse will promptly
    ship your order. You will receive an email when your item has been
    shipped.

    Thank you again for your order.

    So, if this is accurate, Kmart did NOT have all of the cases in their hands at the time the last round of orders were taken………and it’s been two weeks since the last pre-sale?

    I don’t really care, let’s just get them shipped asap.

    Yeap it is them! Cases on hand! They were packed great. The cases where inside a much bigger boxes with lots of popcorn for max protection of the case itself, and hence the contents within as well. Interesting note, now we know the quantity that was available to order on the first round as all of my current cases state for example on one of them # 616/807. Meaning case # 616 out of 807 cases. The 1st round had 807 cases only on pre-order.

    Just want to say thanks to the Sears/Kmart online order team. They were all very helpful in resolving my order cancellation issue. The woman I spoke to was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure that my orders were re-processed.

    John in Missouri……if it makes things a little easier, I’m still waiting for “shipped” confirmations…..all of the orders are “complete” at this point, and the CC is all verified through the phone call from Kmart yesterday, but they haven’t actually run the amounts through the CC system.

    I finally just got off hold with the toll-free number in Florida, and she said she doesn’t know how to get a hold of the person who called me from Iowa. She also said she had never heard of Sears.com making an outbound call to a customer, and wouldn’t know how to get a hold of the person in Iowa to speak to me again. All she knows was that my order was cancelled yesterday, and that my item is out of stock.

    Someone called me from Sears.com about an hour ago. They said my order was cancelled since the PayPal payment was declined. She asked me for my credit card number. I didn’t feel comfortable giving someone my credit card number who I didn’t call directly, so I asked if I could call back with the number, and could I do it as late as Monday. She said she’d note that in my file.

    I called my wife for the credit card number, and then called Sears.com back but they are not able to fulfill my order. All they can tell me is that my order was cancelled yesterday due to my PayPal payment being declined. She says that my item is no longer available. I have been on hold again for about 10 minutes now as she looks into this further. I am about 210 degrees hot right now.

    After about 48 hours of helping everyone I can on TFAD with their orders, I am now pretty sure that ALL of my orders for you Overseas Buyers are FINAL and good.

    I am STILL waiting on 22-23 Final SHIPPED, “Thank You For Your Order” emails from Kmart.com. as most others of TFAD are…..but I think the worst is over.

    As soon as these emails are recieved I will send out one more Final Update concerning that issue and then, Shipping Labels for EACH of you.

    Well, after an email to nascarfan and a couple instances of phone tag (yes KMart/Sears actually called me to resolve my order, while I was at the Redsox game in the pouring rain) I believe my order has finally been processed correctly and Cars are on their way! Special thanks go out to Kmart, Dev, Theresa and others at KMart/Sears online. Customer Service goes a million miles for me! And of course, thank you to nascarfan.

    Kmart emailed me while I was out this evening requesting that I call 1-800-XXX-XXXX regarding my Disney Cars 18 Pack orders. I just got off the phone and she checked on my orders status. She said that my orders were re-processed today (Thanks Nascarfan) and that payment had cleared, and that they were scheduled to ship tomorrow. She also said that “most” of the trouble with the cancellations was the result of a computer glitch in Kmart/Sears system. They seem to really be trying to get all of this resolved. I hope it all works out well for everyone. Thanks again Nascarfan!!!

    I received an email that says the cancellation email that i received was sent by mistake and they gave me a number that i had to call. so i did and they told me that they have to reprocess my order but never asked me my personal info. they just asked me if i did credit card or paypal. i did credit card so they told me that i didnt need to do anything unless i did paypal. I hope this is true but i felt like they just wanted to hang up with me. They already knew it was for the Cars box i think there tired of us calling lol and i used my Mastercard.

    It really bums me out to hear all the hell that most of you are going through with the Kmart cases. I feel very lucky, so far, that my orders are processing smoothly. I am expected to receive some of my cases tomorrow Friday and the rest by Monday. I am curious as to the method of payments that are causing these situations with Kmart. So far from what I gather, some where Paypal payments gone awry and some where, different mailing address than that on credit card, and others simply a precautionary step by the credit card company as they would reasonably think that there would be something fraudalent going on with the many orders placed almost simultanously. All those people having problems, can you state your method of payment for statiscal/informational purposes and to alert others for future orders (to avoid that method of payment). Personally for me, everything has gone smoothly. I used my DISCOVER credit card. I guess it does “Pay to Discover”.

    HELP! I never received the call and I called KMART for them to tell me that the order was cancelled. I explained per the website it was an error and she put me on hold, said sorry but mine was not an error. There are no more….HELP!

    Good news! My card shows pending payment to Sears . . . so maybe I am still in shipping limbo . . . I wonder why some of you recieved the shipping info almost immediately and it has been almost 24 hours and I still have not got the magic email . . . 🙂

    Well here is the whole she-bang.

    Ordered. got email confirmation. got cancellation. got NASCARed. got phone call to change payment and confirm my order.

    Since then, nothing. No email confirmation, no shipping info. Kmart.com does not allow me access to the info and when I call Kmart/Sears.com they still show my order as cancelled.

    I thought this ride was over, but I am begining to think I just survived the first big hill . . . I hear this clicking noise as I seem to be climbing again . . . hmmm . . . ..

    Time to call the credit card to see if it has been charged . . .

    Well I placed 3 different orders and all 3 received order confirmations the other day but I only received one email with shipping confirmation today (I registered with 3 different emails). But when I searched each order individually under kmart. com, each order is now fully processed, the order is closed, my cards have been charged, and each order has a tracking # and shipping date.

    So the email notices are not perfectly reliable.

    Well, that did not work. I registered an “account.” It shows no order in my account window. Now I try to go in under order status and it tells me I am trying to check on an order with a different email address than my account, and it is the exact same email address used for the order I placed. Dude . . . can nothing be easy . . .

    jestrjef, I found the same thing if you try to search for a specific order using your email address and order number.

    Go into your account through the “order status” link, then click on “order details”, next to the basic order information. Hope that helps, if you haven’t already tried it.

    Nascarfan re-submitted my orders this morning. I checked Kmart.com about an hour ago and it shows orders status as “Completed”. But still no call or email from them.

    Do any of us that have received no emails need to do anything? I used regualar credit cards on both orders I placed (1 case each, each presale).

    My order status on Kmart.com still says processing, and my cards have not been charged.

    card for 1 just before I got the call but they said it didn’t go through and they voided the charge, but the money is still being held by my card company so i’ll have to wait for that charge to drop off before they can re-run it. (Because I don’t have any extra money in that account.)

    So I asked her to go ahead and charge the other 2 cases and so she went ahead and started processing them. About 10-15 minutes after our call ended the charge for the other 2 cases showed on my account but my status at k-mart.com still showed processing, so i was worried they didn’t get the money again.

    So I called them back and asked them if they 100% got the money for those 2 cases, and she said they had. She also said she would be holding my 3rd case for me to buy once that voided charge drops off.

    So I’m definitely getting 2 of my cases, and hopefully my 3rd in a few days.

    I just received a call from Kmart……..it ended up being a conference call, as she had a person from our card-issuing bank on as well, to confirm that I was the cardholder and verify that information. She said she’d release the orders immediately……..I checked my order status on Kmart.com after hanging up, and all orders were marked as “complete”.
    Here’s the funny part: I also immediately received multiple emails stating that they’re sorry but they can’t fill the orders…….canceled.
    So, it’s obvious that there’s a glitch in the Kmart system that kicks out a cancellation notice instead of a confirmation notice.
    Go by what your “order status” shows on Kmart.com, not what the emails say. They are, as Dev has stated, being sent out in error.

    YES!!! Tracking information is up for my order (2 Cases) with Friday as delivery day!!!! For those looking for weights… this order of 2 cases shows 9lbs through UPS shipping… may not be precise as I believe UPS rounds up to whole lbs for shipping concerns…

    The SHIPPED Out emails are coming from Kmart.com, slow but sure, and still going thru each initial preorder vs confirmation order, and shipped out email as they come in.

    Thank you for the great support. Would like to know how to get word out to Mr. W. Bruce Johnson and tell him of your outstanding customer service.

    Thank you for looking into international orders. I really hope they can become a reality for our overseas collectors.

    The 2 case per order limit was fair, and I hope this continues through the next Collector’s Day event(s).
    I would even go as far as set a limit of 6 or 8 per household, as to give others a fighting chance to order.

    My suggestion for future Kmart Collectors Day event(s) would be to hold a raffle event at each participating store for a ‘one per store’ special Car or Car in special packaging (maybe could even be a Kmart themed race Car or hauler 😉 ) . I think this would greatly increase the collector participation in store. Not that it needs any help now.

    And you may want to order a few hundred extra Collector cases for pre-order this fall 😉

    boy am i glad to see i am not alone!! was just explaining to joe m the exact same thing you guys are talking about! yesterday got the cancellation notice was pretty bummed! today when i got home got the “cancellation message was error message” the exact words someone above had wrote , received phone call from someone from sears.com (theresa in iowa) she explained they are re-filling the cancelled orders, but they no longer exist on internet (paypal has been re-imbursed but they need other form of payment) was extremely paranoid to give cc# to someone over the phone but she knew my order # and that it was collectible cars so i went for it!! oh well now the pressure is off (again??? still?? maybe??) for saturday she said they were trying to finish call-back list and in 5-7 days (standard ship) we should be happy ps jestrjef-you’re next!! good luck everyone hope it all works out, and a special thanks to dev you get it bro!! and we all do appreciate it!!! thank-you tom oconnor tampa

      The call is coming! I just got my call. The lady was super happy and she said we (the people she has been calling) have been making her night!

      She has never made some many calls were people were happy to hear her voice! She is flying high as a kite.

      She mentioned something about stopping, but it felt so good to make the calls, she said she was going to finish them tonight!

    Just received the rest of my confirmations for shipping. I initially received confirmations yesterday for a few which are expected to arrive on Friday, a day before the event. The rest, which were on hold somehow, shipped today for Monday delivery I would assume. I did not order with expedited service. I placed orders on round 1 using fat wallet on one and 5 off coupon on another, and regular price the last (did not want to take a chance of cancelation so used all options). I ordered a few more on round 2 using 5 off coupon only. All of them have been confirmed, processed, and shipped. A bit relieved, but again, I won’t fully rest until they are on hand.

    Hey, don’t forget that if you filled out the “profile” for yourself on Kmart.com, I believe they asked for contact numbers, and preferred contact times.

    So, whether you chose day or evening hours will probably determine when they contact you.

    I know I chose evening, so that would be my bet that I will hear from them later in the day. We’ll see.

    i look forward to the posting tomorrow of the $5 coupon….also, if anybody does not claim a case between now and friday, would it possible to get one case for me? i would dearly love to save the 122 mile-trip-worth-of-gas that it will cost me to drive to my nearest kmart….but it’s better than buying from a secondary source and having to pay the extra shipping charge involved not to mention my having to pay extra costs associated with that person handling the item based on their small monetary exposure….

It’s stupid I know, but I am hoping the blu ray version will make it look like Principal “Dick” Vernon’s freaky huge hands are coming out of the screen at me, you know…when he’s doing the “I got my eyes on you” gesture to Judd Nelson. Did anyone else notice how huge his hands were? Alright…I’ll stop now.
